Grand Seiko 'Skyflake' 37mm Titanium Quartz edition

This new edition of the Grand Seiko ‘Skyflake’ features a dial texture inspired by the original – which took its cues from blue sky reflected on Shinshu snow, where all Grand Seiko quartz timepieces are crafted and rivers and lakes freeze over in wintertime. ‘The Nature of Time’ theme features prominently in Grand Seiko watch designs – a Japanese spirituality where each moment is a unique expression unveiled through light and shadow. The watchmakers’ pride in their surroundings is represented from engineering watch movements, to creating dials reflecting the beauty of Japanese nature. Crafted to fit a more compact 37mm case construction, this ‘Skyflake’ is crafted from high-intensity titanium – an alloy that is 30% lighter than stainless steel with the added benefits of increased corrosion-resistance and hypo-allergenicity. High-intensity titanium has a much harder and brighter finish than most other grades of titanium used in the industry, allowing it to be signature Zaratsu polished to a mirror finish. Under a dual-curve sapphire crystal glass is a light blue textured dial with silver-coloured hour and minute hands. A blued steel second hand complements the dial. With an in-house built 9F62 Quartz calibre, this timepiece is the only Grand Seiko 9F quartz within a high-intensity titanium casing. The 9F62 calibre is accurate to /-10 seconds per year and has a date feature at 3 o’clock. The quartz in every 9F calibre is grown in-house and tested for three months – only the best-performing crystals are crafted into a Grand Seiko movement. Every Grand Seiko features signature high standards of precision, durability, and legibility, handcrafted in Japan by Takumi artisans.
