This timepiece is handcrafted by Takumi artisans who bring to life Grand Seiko’s respect for the nature of time. The textured dial is inspired by the frozen mountainous snow surface reflecting the blue skies which dominate the view from the Shinshu Watch Studio in Japan’s Nagano Prefecture. Inspired by the original ‘Skyflake,’ this piece is smaller and more compact, powered by the 9F61 in-house movement, adjusted to an accuracy of -/ 10 seconds per year. Every quartz crystal has different performance characteristics; aged and rigorously tested for three months, only the most accurate quartz oscillators are crafted into each Grand Seiko. Calibre 9F delivers high performance and durability through innovations in every aspect of the movement: the instant Date Change mechanism; the torque – comparable to a mechanical movement which allows wider and longer hands; the Second hand precision which achieves positional accuracy on the dial against the markers; and the sealed structure meaning high retention of lubricating oils. ‘The Nature of Time’ theme features prominently in Grand Seiko watch designs – the watchmakers’ pride in their surroundings is represented from engineering watch movements which emulate the smooth motion of time passing, to creating dials reflecting the beauty of Japanese nature. Every Grand Seiko features signature high standards of precision, durability and legibility, handcrafted in Japan by Takumi artisans.
