Made in the USA 4 oz. skein Brown is less frequently described in the 18th century than blue, white and grey for stockings and more brown stockings are described in the southern states than in the New England area. This yarn provides a dark natural brown color. Brown is sometimes described as this Virginia Gazette ad from 1768 shows, “RUN away . . . a convicted servant man . . . a butcher by trade; had on when he run away . . . brown stocking”.
