Made in the USA 4 oz. skein Mixed stockings may have made up as many as 20% of stockings described in Rhode Island runaway ads from 1760 to 1783. Mixed was made by spinning one ply of blue and one ply of red into a 2 ply yarn.In The Virginia Gazette in 1775 “a convict servant” man ran away “who is a native of London . . . He had on, and took with him . . . a pair of mixed red coarse sale do. [stockings]”.
